Flappers  marks the first solo effort by Charlie Ringas as composer/drummer/bandleader, and the formation of Don Valley Parkway as a performing unit.

Spending most of 1985 writing the music, by the spring of 1986 this electric ensemble of guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, was assembled and ready to embark on some challenging musical adventures

The compositions presented here draw on a wide range of influences. There is a symphonic approach of wide ranging constructs,
integrating some fiery improvising over unusual chord sequences and shifting time signatures throughout. However, on noting that, there’s plenty of straight ahead rhythms and harmonic sequences, that brings balance to the overall scope of this recorded effort.

With all this activity going on, the group’s overall sound is coherent and compact. And as this music demands your full attention, what it offers is a generous output, to an engaging listening experience..
